OSM / LA SIQ SE DONNE DES ALERNATIVES 10.01.2004 La société immobilière du Québec (SIQ ) semble vouloir se donner des alternatives pour le développement du site Balmoral ayanyt pourtant fait l'objet d'un concours international. En effet un appel à des manifestations d'intérêt pour le site dont la valuer est identifié à 7m$ a été lancé cette semaine. Dans sa publication , la SIQ ouvre la porte à l'abandon complet du projet lauréat du projet lauréat du concours. Autre coup dur pour les concours. publié par jb / posted by jb AVENIR DES CONCOURS AU QUÉBEC 10.01.2004 Répondant à une question de Z1 sur l'avenir des concours en design au Québec, le Ministère de la culture du Québec a répondu par écrit dans une lettre ouverte qui sera reproduite ici. Le Ministère de la Culture ( MCC ) semble vouloir poursuivre l'initiative pour les projets culturels de plus de 2M$ ayant fait l'objet de subvention de la part du MCC. Par contre aucune clarification n'a été donné quant à la possibilité de reproduire la stratégie de financement employée par la Ville de Longueuil qui a contourné la procédure pour la Bibliothèque municipale en n'obtenant pas le financement du Ministère de la Culture mais d'un autre ministère. WINNIPEG THE CITY OF DESIGN ? 10.01.2003 Following the Human Rights Museum Competition ( www.canadianmuseumforhumanrights.com ), the City of Winnipeg has launched another international competition : City Crossing is an open competition requesting ideas to redefine a downtown intersection including underground city crossing. The competition is anonymous, has high prizes and very acceptable quantity of documents requested for presentation ( four vertically mounted (540 mm x 705 mm or 1'-11 1/4” x 2'-9”) . I/O IN ZURICH FOR INSTANT BOOK WRITTING ON INTERDISCIPLINARY PRACTICE 10.01.2004 Along with the members of the network of Integral Concept that includes Ruedi Baur, Jean Beaudoin will take part in the conclusion of the event Design Culture 2. A two day gathering at the Zurich ( Switzerland ) Design Museum will result in the expression of current views of the opening of all design related practice towards a more coherent built space design. The book will be published by Lars Muller an editor that is also a member of Integral Concept. The participation Jean Beaudoin at the event is sponsored by the Conseil des Arts du Canada. WINNER OF WTC SELECTED 10.10.2004 Michael Arad's creation of two cascading pools standing in the World Trade Center's footprints was among the most minimal of entries in the competition for a Sept. 11 memorial. Its simplicity conveyed unimaginable loss and rebirth, a jury found in choosing the plan. But a day after hearing that Arad and landscape architect Peter Walker would present a significantly revised version of the "Reflecting Absence" design next week, some wondered how much of the original design would emerge. Arad, a 31-year-old Israeli native who has designed police stations for the city, was at Walker's firm in San Francisco Wednesday, working on a revised memorial design. Walker, who Arad brought onto his team during the eight-month contest, is expected to add green space and landscaping to the plaza surrounding the reflecting pools. ( source : Newsday ) . All contemporary design having an impact on built space is of interest to Z.one Architecture. It may range from architecture, lightscape, landscape, signage ( infoscape ) or lightscape and include object scale projects onto urban planning. All contribution thru images or text are welcomed.
