The International Competition Network.

This competition project was launch on the initiative of Zone Architecture Quebec and is a collaborative work of  all the ICN members and the event donators.

Here's the description of each graphic object to submit for the competition:

This graphic object will be posted on the partner sites. This component must integrate in a flexible manner the different ways the word " Competition is formulated ". The multicultural uniqueness of the ICN is underline by the respect of each countries language and cultural characteristic, mainly its language. In this regard,
the Partner TAG will have to be submitted in one example  using a "free of choice" language of the word "competition". This part of the object will have to be easily replaced by the other formulations of the word "competition". The other imposed words are " International Competition Network  " - the abbreviation ICN is suggested but not required. and " Partner ".

  Documents to be Presented

To submit a graphic project in the " submit logo " box, the participant must attach to his e-mail :

1 ICN partner TAG;

1 ICN listed comp TAG;

1 ICN hyperlink TAG.

In the body of the message the e-mail the participant must included the name, address, phone number. Upon reception of your project, a e-mail will confirm reception and will include your ID number.

martin Leblanc, z-1, will be the only person aware of the identity of the authors. The identity will not be revealed until the final decision. martin Leblanc is not A voting member of the jury.

Prizes and Honorable Mentions

The awards are described in the PRIZE section.

All the awards will be distributed within 90 days after the announcement of the winner on September 2nd 1998.

Please note that some of the national magazine issues may be sent in a single shipment at the end of the registration year. this is accordingly to some agreements with the donators of the prizes.

The country representative is the only responsible of the awards they are offering. The other partner site owner are not linked in in any way to the prizes associated to the respective country.

Jury

The jury is comprised of the members listed in the JURY section. The selection procedure will be based on step by step elimination directed by voting calls of the 34 jury members taking part in a on-line debate hosted by irc.kubos.org ( France) . The debates will be formatted and posted on the competition site.

The technical Committee will examine, prior to judging, all entries for compliance to the regulations. The committee will also retain from posting in the exhibition logos with racist, sexist, violent or content.

 

The Technical Committee will disqualify any project that:

  • is submitted after the stipulated date and time ;

  • does not contain the required drawings;

  • contravenes the anonymity rules;

  • contravenes the conflict of interest rules ;

  • does not comply with any other regulation clause.

Following the awards, the jurors shall sign the jury report and proceed in the following manner:

  • they will take cognizance the First Prize winner’s identity;

  • they will verify the eligibility of the winner;

  • they will then take cognizance the identity of the other laureates;

  • if there is a disqualification, the other winners will move up the established order.

The awards and the jury’s decision will be motivated in a written report. The report will describe the general competition results and outline the design considerations that influenced the jury’s choices. The report may also include comments on any project submitted.

The jury’s decisions are at its sole discretion. They are final and determine the competition laureates. The judging procedure will be annexed to the report.

In the event that the jury should learn that one or some of the winners have contravened any of the rules of the present competition including, but not limited to, the rules governing conflict of interest, this or those participants shall be disqualified. The laureates ranked behind those disqualified will move up the established order. All the prizes awarded to those disqualified will be redistributed according to the newly established ranks.

Eligibility

The competition is open to any person interested in Architecture : architects, apprentices, interns, students, urban planners, landscape architects, engineers, artists ...

Are excluded from competing all those susceptible of being in conflict of interest, including the following:

  • employees of the Organizing Body or of the Sponsors of this competition;

  • anyone having been closely associated with the preparation of the competition;

  • anyone having, with the Organizing Body, the Professional Advisory Board or a member of the Jury:

  • a close family tie (father, mother, spouse, child, brother or sister);

  • an employee or employer-type relationship;

  • a continuous and close professional association or partnership;

Discussions of any type relating to the competition between participants and jurors are strictly prohibited until the official awards announcement.

Participants may only participate in one project.

Submission delivery

Projects shall be received before 5 PM, Montreal time, on september 21st 1998 thru the e-mail procedure describeb in the SUBMIT LOGO ! section

Participants are solely responsible for the timely arrival of their submissions. Participants, by virtue of entering the competition, agree to save harmless the organizers, sponsors and anyone else involved with the competition, for any delay, damage or loss, real or perceived.

Anonymity

To ensure the anonymity of the projects, participants must strictly abide by the submittal procedure described in the SUBMIT! section.

The  e-mail used for shipping will be be archeived and will served as the iD documents.

Each participants is responsable to check that their shipping was received by taking note of the confirmation reply.

The organizers will only take charge and include in the competition the complete submittals that they will have confirm reception of.

Rights and Obligations

The competition announcement constitute a contract offer. Registration in the competition constitute a contractual agreement and thus implies the competitor’s acceptance of all the regulations of the competition. Entries will become the property of Zone Architecture Quebec , acting as all the ICN partners thrustee. Entrants shall retain the copyright in their design to the exception of the first prize winner who will assign his/her copyright to Zone Architecture and who will sign any document for this copyright assigment( this procedure is standard in any logo design projects).  The participants automatically allow the organizers to use all or part of their entry for publication purposes in any medium. Proper credit will be given in any publication relating to the competition results.

The participants are responsible for the identification of the authors of the projects submitted. These authors will be identified by the archived submital e-mail. The participants agree to save harmless the promoter, the organizing body and any person linked with the organization of the competition from all claims, of any nature whatsoever, relating to authorship of any project.

Without restricting the generality of the foregoing, by registering in this competition, the competitors accept that the promoter, the organizers and any person linked with the organization of the competition are not in any way responsible for damages, real or perceived, suffered by the participants as a result of taking part in this competition.

Should a conflict of any nature arise, the participants recognize and accept that the applicable law shall be the Law of the province of Quebec and the competent tribunals shall be the courts of the province of Quebec, district of Montreal.

Should there be a conflict between the English and other language versions of the competition rules, the English version shall prevail.
